Finding Vivian Maier is the upcoming documentary that could change the milestone of when the entire streetstyle photography concept came to life.
This mysterious, yet factual story of Vivian Maier, the nanny / photography-enthusiast was discovered after her death, when a Chicago real estate agent bought a box of film negatives of an unknown photographer for $380 from an auction house. Little did he know that in the that box were actually thousands of high-quality street style snaps from Chicago and New York dating form the 50s and the 60s.
Bit by bit, the story of this “Mary Poppins Sartorialist” was revealed and the buzz was so big that even exhibitions in big art cities such as London, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Hamburg and Oslo, could contain the wow element.
And yet she is real, all the self-portrait photos are such a great legacy of Vivian Maier.
The upcoming documentary is scheduled for this year. Be on the lookout.
